Resumen de Representaciones de la inmigración en el cine español: la producción comercial y sus márgenes

Alberto Elena Díaz

  • The relatively recent phenomenon of foreign immigration in Spain has made an appearance in the nation’s cinema under a number of different guises. To date, however, researchers have paid little attention to this occurrence, and have tended to concentrate somewhat abusively on a limited canonical corpus of commercial films of greater or lesser value which by no means may be seen as representative of the rich spectrum of recent cinematographic production. This article therefore deals with initiatives on the fringes of commercial production, paying special attention to documentaries and the emergence of works directly filmed by immigrants themselves. The latter is an innovation abstract destined to become ever more common in the years to come.
