The man's image in the work of Camões (16th century) is echoed in the thought of Pascoaes (loth century), although modified by reasons of time. In Camões, though, there still exists the deification of the Portuguese hero that tries to surpass his zoology. This tendency of the body to the soul or to perfection is, in both authors, a general opposition to the mediocrity and high esteem for the human nature, allied to the ambition of accomplishing it in the ideal type.

A imagem do homem na obra de Camões (séc. XVI) repercute-se no pensamento de Pascoaes (séc. XX), ainda que modificada pelas razões do tempo. Permanece de Camões, todavia, a divinização do herói português (modelo participante do homem total) que procura ultrapassar a sua zoologia. Esta tendência do corpo para a alma ou para a perfeição é, em ambos os autores, oposição genérica à mediocridade e elevada estima pela natureza humana, aliada à ambição de realizá-la no tipo ideal.
