This paper studies the relationships between the Latin hexametrical translations of Theocritus' Idylls by Helius Eobanus Hessus (1530) and the translation of the Idylls made by Vicente Mariner (1625). Mariner uses frequently words taken from Hessus' version with the aim of facilitating the 'construction' of his own hexameter.
