La práctica del piercing ha estado presente a lo largo de la historia de la humanidad y en los últimos años ha experimentado un auge entre la población joven de países desarr ollados, principalmente con fines estéticos. Para realizar este estudio hemos visitado los cuatro locales dedicados a esta práctica, situa- dos en la ciudad de Badajoz. Con la ayuda del Decreto 181/2004 del 30 de no- viembre que regula los establecimientos no sanitarios destinados a la práctica del piercing y otras técnicas, hemos realizado una entrevista de veintidós pre- guntas para conocer las medidas higiénico-sanitarias y técnicas utilizadas, for- mación del personal, actuación en caso de emergencia y complicaciones más habituales, entre otras. Una vez recogida la información hemos podido com- probar que esta práctica puede suponer un riesgo desconocido para la mayoría de la población, ya que las condiciones en las que se encuentran este tipo de establecimientos no son las idóneas.

The practice of piercing has been present throughout the history of the humanity and in the last years it has experienced a height between the young population of developed countries, mainly with aesthetic aims. In order to make this study we have visited the four dedicated premises this practice, located in the city of Badajoz. With the aid of Decree 181/2004 of the 30 of November that regulates the nonsanitary establishments destined to the practice of piercing and other techniques, we have made an interview of twenty-two questions to know used hygienic and technical the measures, more habitual formation of the personnel, performance in case of emer gency and complications, among others.
Once collection the information we have been able to verify that this practice can suppose a unknown risk stops most of the population, since the conditions in which they are this type of establishments are not the suitable ones.
