    Este artículo trata de la primera iglesia parroquial existente en la ciudad de Santiago de Chile. Su importancia consiste en haber sido consagrada como la primera Catedral de Santiago en el año 1563: Sus cinco secciones explican la relación entre la fundación de la iglesia y la fundación de la ciudad, así como los primeros eventos que retrasaron su construcción, la constitución de la parroquia y sus primeros constructores. Finaliza considerando la participación indígena en la obra mediante sus encomenderos, la consagración del primer y segundo obispo de la diócesis en ella y la fecha de su derrumbe en 1573.

    This article is about the first parochial church in the city or Santiago of Chile. Its importance consists on being the first Cathedral of Santiago in the year 1563. Its five sections explain the relationship between teh foundation of the church and the city, as well as the first events that delayed its construction, the constitution of the parish and its first constructors. It ends by considering the indian participation in the construction through their commissionaires, the consecration of the first and second bishops of the diocese in the cathedaral and the date of its collapse in 1573.
