    En este artículo se presenta un resumen y una evaluación del libro "psicología del lenguaje. Investigación y teoría" de Belinchon, Riviere e Igoa (1992). El libro esta concebido como un manual en el que se tratan de integrar los aspectos teóricos. Metodológicos y empíricos de la psicología del lenguaje. De los quince capítulos de que consta, los siete primeros constituyen una amplia introducción critica de la disciplina y los ocho restantes se ocupan de exponer sus contenidos de forma sistemática. Por lo que respecta a la evaluación del libro, se destacan. Como aspectos más meritorios, su carácter novedoso, la amplitud informativa, la cohesión y trabazón argumental entre los capítulos, además de una excelente labor editorial. Entre sus puntos mas débiles, se incluyen el exceso de eclecticismo, cierta dispersión entre los autores, con algunas redundancias innecesarias, y, como cuestiones más de fondo, el uso equivoco de la contraposición formalismo-funcionalismo y un tratamiento insuficiente de la problemática del significado. No obstante, el balance general es positivo y se celebra muy gratamente su publicación.

    This article is an extended review of the book «Psicología del lenguaje. Investigación y teoría» by Belinchón, Riviére and Igoa (1992). This has been conceived as a textbook intended to provide a comprehensive view of the theoretical, methodological, and empirical aspects that characterize psychology of language. The book contains 15 chapters, seven of which are devoted to a critical introduction to the discipline, while the remaining eight chapters deal systematically with its objective contents. With respect to an evaluation of the book, the emphasis here is on its novelty, informativeness, the cohesion and well organized distribution of its chapters, as well as on the excellent editorial work. On the less meritorious side, the book suffers from an excessive eclecticism, a certain of dispersion among the authors, with unnecesary redundancies, and, more significatly, the persistence of a confusing use of the formalism-functionalism opposition and insufficient treatment of the problem of meaning. On the whole, the balance is still on the positive side, and the publication of this book is gratefully acknowledged
