Resumen de Ostracoda from the south west Atlantic. Part II: the littoral fauna from between Tierra del Fuego and the Río de la Plata

Podocopid Ostracoda were isolated from a large number of phytal and sediment samples collected in the eulittoral and immediate sublittoral along the length of the Atlantic coast of southern South America from Isla Grande (Tierra del Fuego) to Mar Chiquita, just north of the city of Mar del Plata and including the Beagle Channel and the Strait of Magellan. This considerable latitudinal range of some 17° (54°50'S to 37°40'S) embraces a number of zoogeographical provinces and this is reflected in the fact that 103 species were recovered. Of these, 15 are new, and there is one new genus, Ameghinocythere reticulata gen. et sp. nov. The remainder of the new species are: Bythocythere magellanica, Loxocythere variasculpta, Perissocytheridea sanantoniensis, Rotundracythere? larai, Ambostracon (A.) ataxia, Neocaudites plane forma, Callistocythere nucleoperiscum, Leptocythere darwini, Leptocythere santacruzensis, Paradoxostoma islagrandensis, Pellucistoma elongata, Keijia patagonica, Munseyella undulata and Protocythere multicostata. All 103 species are illustrated and described, diagnosed and/or discussed.
