Modalidad y perífrasis modales en textos cronísticos

    Al voltant de la inscripció del subjecte parlant en el discurs gira el concepte de modalitat i, com a resultat de l'expressió subjectiva de l'ésser humà, tenim les modalitats de l'enunciat, que poden ser lògiques i apreciatives. En ambdues modalidats els mitjans lingüístics emprats per exterioritzar l'actitud de l'enunciador respecte a l'enunciat i al destinatari són lèxics, gramaticals i fonètico-fonològics. D'aquests destaquem la categoria gramatical del verb i, en particular, les perífrasis modals en funció del nostre objectiu: constatar fins a quin punt aquest darrer tipus de perífrasis condiciona, als Naufragios 1992 d'Alvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca (1490 o 1507-1564), la captatio benevolentiae de Carles V davant la petició d'Alvar Núñez de ser nomenat governador de la Florida.

    The concept of modality focuses on the linguistic behaviour of the subject who relates the story and, as a result of the subjective expression of human being: we may consider the forms of the statement, which can be logical and appreciative. In both modalities the linguistic means used in order to exteriorize the source's attitude with respect to the statement and to the receiver are lexical, grammatical and phonetic. We distinguish amongst them the grammatical category of the verb and, especially, we focus on modal periphrasis with the aim of proving to what extent modal periphrasis influences, the Naufragios 1992 by Alvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca (1490 or 1507-1564) and the captatio benevolentiae of Charles V before Alvar Núñez's request to be appointed governor of Florida
