En manuscritos importantes y en algunas ediciones del Decameron se ilustra con toda precisión el viaje de ida y vuelta que cumplen los jóvenes del marco, un viaje ordenado, honesto, en busca de la esencia del hombre, un proyecto humanista de vida que sale en defensa de la función positiva, regeneradora, de la literatura de evasión.

In several important manuscripts and in some editions of the Decameron the departure and return journey accomplished by the young gentlmen and ladies of the narrative framework is illustrated with great precision. It is an ordered, controlled and honest journey, in search of the essential nature of man; a project of human life which defends the positive and regenerating function of the escapist literature, advocated by Boccaccio from a surprisingly modern point of view.
