    La expresión del humor en las artes plásticas del medievo es un tema difícil de abordar, debido, en primer lugar, a la dificultad para definir el concepto; a ello hay que sumar la dificultad para la representación de figuras o escenas que transmitan sensaciones de comicidad.

    Partiendo del supuesto de que los planteamientos humorísticos del medievo no se corresponden, necesariamente, con los actuales, se ha optado por elaborar el estudio atendiendo a diferentes categorías, entre las que cabría señalar la risa, lo grotesco, la caricatura, el juego, la diversión, la transgresión, la sátira social, etc., todo ello encuadrando la creación artística en el correspondiente marco histórico, político, religioso, filosófico y social.

    The expression of humour in the plastic arts of the Middle Ages is a difficult topic to deal with, firstly, due to the difficulty to define the concept; to this we must add the difficulty for the representation of figures or scenes transmitting sensations of comicalness. Departing from the assumption that the humoristic settings of the Middle Ages do not necessarily correspond to those of the present day, we have opted for undertaking this study paying attention to different categories, among which we can point out: mirth/laughter, the grotesque, caricatures, games, amusement, transgression, social satire, etc.; all this framing this artistic creation in its corresponding historic, politic, religious, philosophic and social frame
