  • Resumen
    • Nuliparous goats of the Alpine breed, latitude 21°15"22"S were used. The group G1 (12 animals) was subjected to hormone estrus induction: each female was treated with CIDR during nine days and then 200 UI of eCG. In the control group G2 (12 animals), any treatment was used. Vaginal smear was effected daily, with cotton Swab. In the proestrus phase there was a significative difference (p<0.05) for the intermediary parabasal cells (G1>G2), nucleated and anucleated superficial cells (G2>G1). In the estrus there was significative difference (p<0.05) for the parabasal and intermediary 3cells (G1>G2) and superficial anucleated cells (G2>G1), In the diestrus there was significative difference (p<0.05) only for the enuclated superficial cells (G1>G2). From the results it is possible to conclude that there was a variation in the cytological pattern of goats induced with hormones in relation to those which presented natural estrus at the latitude 21°15"22"S, in the proestrus, estrus and diestrus phases.
