Located in the western Pyrenees, in the heart of the zone of passage and contact between the Aquitaine region and the Vasco-Cantabria zone, lsturitz Cave has yielded a remarkable archaeological assemblage covering the Middle Paleolithic and alí of the Upper Paleolithic. Numerous remains show evidence for rich Aurignacian occupations, particularly the first phases of this techno-complex. In this paper, we present a brief synthesis of the first data that have made lsturitz a key site in the study of this period.
