Resumen de Del mito a la Prehistoria en la historia de España: aproximación historiográfica (1841-1900)

Hasta bien entrado el siglo XIX, en las historias generales y locales, la etapa correspondiente a la historia primitiva se ocupa con leyendas de carácter religioso o mítico, a falta de datos históricos ciertos. En este trabajo se hace un recorrido historiográfico en el que se ve cómo se produce un retroceso paulatino de la narración mítica de los orígenes, en favor de los nuevos datos aportados por la naciente prehistoria. Este proceso culmina a finales del siglo XIX con el reconocimiento de la etapa prehistórica como parte integrante del relato histórico.

Up to around the middle of the XIX century, the stage corresponding to the primitive history, in the general and local histories, dealt with legends of religious or mythical character, for lack of sure historical data. In this paper a historiographic survey is made showing how a gradual retreat of the mythical narration of the origins took place, in favour of the new data contributed by the nascent prehistory. This process culminated at the end of the XIX century with the recognition of the prehistoric stage as integral part of history.
