  • A survey of the mentions of fate (µ) as a force in history in the extant Bibliotheke historike shows that it is not possible to ascribe it mechanically to Diodorus' sources. The language is representative of the late Hellenistic period inscriptions. It is suggested that an unidentified passage in Suidas (Polybius, fr. 184 Büttner-Wobst) have to be ascribed to Diodorus.
