  • In additíon to the Ethnological Museum, which exists in the frames of the Museum of Macedonia, as the only institution specialized for contemporary museum interpretation and presentation of ethnological material, 15 minor ethnological museums are active in the frames of the city museums. The number of the ethnological items collected in the museums amounts to 37000 and is permanently increasing. The items are dated mainly to the 19th and 20th ccntury and there is only a small number of items dated before the 19 th century.
