El carácter del universalismo Católico ha significado que haya buscado diferenciarse de los judíos a pesar de compartir un inicio similar en la historia. Va a ser, en la España de la convivencia, de la coexistencia, donde previamente habían interaccionado tres religiones que se habían enriquecido económica, intelectual y estéticamente, en donde la historia tendrá un punto de inflexión y los judíos serán perseguidos a través de una política que pretende intervenir en su vida religiosa y así eliminar su presencia en la cristiandad al convertirlos y destruirlos, prosperando de esta manera el antisemitismo racial. Lo que este trabajo pretende es mostrar como una cuestión de origen religioso se va transformando a una de orden económica que termina teniendo connotaciones racistas, y como éstas hay momentos en que fueron promovidas desde la Iglesia Católica en España fundamentalmente de la Convivencia a la Reconquista y hasta la expulsión de 1492

A characteristic of Catholic universalism has been its attempt to d ifferentiate itself from Judaism, even though both religions share a similar beginning in history. Previously, in the Spain of coexistence, three religions interacted economically, intellectually and aesthetically to mutual benefit. It is there that history makes a point that the Jews were persecuted by a policy that attempted to interfere with their religious life and thus eliminate their presence in Christianity by converting them and destroying them. By doing so, Spain allowed racial anti-Semitism to flourish. A religious matter can thus be transformed into an economic order that ends by having racial connotations. This is type of moment that the Catholic Church in Spain promoted from the time of peaceful coexistence to the defeat of the Moors up to the expulsion of the Jews in 1492.
