[DANIEL ORTIZ] In reference to the content and the actual challenges for the MSE - Market Social Economy-, it is worth commenting on some of the questions which have not been answered yet. Considering that the MSE is an essentially European model of economic laws with Germanic roots , one may wonder what the role will be for the MSE in the future economic configuration of the EU. And if, as it seems, the EMU finally takes on a lot of criterions from the MSE, we may also wonder how the EMU will carry them out and, finally, how far this influence will get to. We have talked enough about the crisis of the welfare State, and it has also been pointed out that new technology, structural unemployment and globalisation are leading us to a new socioeconomical paradigm. In this context, can the MSE itself or even its basic principles be considered valid? Which are the real possibilities of exporting the MSE out of the European frontiers? How will it affect the new global scenery? In short, how can the MSE contribute to the 21st century? Now it is more necessary than ever that we keep looking into all the possibilities that the MSE can still offer us. As a matter of fact, we should riot be surprised if because of the ideological chaos existing during the last years of this century the MSE came into fashion.
