Incertidumbre y actitudes ante la inmigración

    Este artículo tiene unas pretensiones muy modestas y se reducirá a mostrar algunas lógicas subyacentes de las actitudes de la población vasca (o europea) ante la inmigración extranjera. Distinguimos actitudes que responden a una motivación ideológica de las que canalizan un rechazo más situacional de la población extranjera, convencidos de estas últimas reflejan el grado de certidumbre o incertidumbre social de quienes las sostienen, de modo que a mayor grado de incertidumbre mayor rechazo de la inmigración. Combatir este área de incertidumbre en nuestras opulentas sociedades es un imperativo categórico, porque no parece que la exclusión social vaya a reducirse en las próximas décadas.

    This article pursues the very modest goal of revealing some aspects of the underlying logic of the attitudes of the Basque (or European) population to immigration. We distinguish attitudes that are in response to an ideological motivation from those that channel a more situational rejection of the foreign population. Attitudes reflect the degree of social uncertainty or certainty of those that hold them, so that the greater the degree of uncertainty, the greater the rejection of immigration. Overcoming this area of uncertainty in our opulent societies is a categorical imperative, as it does not seem that the social exclusion is going to reduce over the coming decades.
