In 1974 the Government of Neuquén created ¿Artesanías Neuquinas¿ (Handicraft from Neuquén) with the aim of ¿recovering, promoting and developing the Mapuche handicraft activity, enhancing its cultural importance, which results in a permanent as well as sustainable source of income to ensure the artisan¿s permanence in his homeland, thus rescuing the socio-cultural value of the artisan and his produce.¿ Today, thirty years later, we analize the influence this enterprise has had on the marketing of Mapuche handicraft from communities located in areas close to San Martín de los Andes and Junín de los Andes
