Resumen de Leopold Anton Kaufhold: visión antitética de España

En este trabajo se ofrece una muestra de algunos aspectos de la visión objetiva e imparcial, aunque no siempre exenta de contradicciones, del primer viajero alemán, Leopold A. Kaufhold, que nos ofrece un documento directo y auténtico de su experiencia por tierras españolas a finales del siglo XVIII. Su descripción oscila entre la Ilustración y el Romanticismo sin conseguir aunar del todo ambas posturas, pero transmitiendo la realidad inmediata como se puede apreciar aquí en sus consideraciones acerca de sus habitantes, de su paisaje, de la importancia de la minería y de la mano de obra especializada.

In this paper the authoress presents some aspects of the objective and impartial view, �though not always free from contradictions� which the first German traveller on Spanish lands, Leopold A. Kaufhold had at the end of the XVIII century. His description fluctuates from the Enlightenment to the Romantic Movement, without being able to integrate both perspectives in complete harmony, but he manages to transmit interesting considerations with regard to the inhabitants, their scenery, the importance of mining and the need of specialized labour at that time.
