Rio Grande do Sul, Uruguay and the Argentine provinces of Buenos Aires, Corrientes and Entre Ríos seem to have enjoyed, long time ago, some common characters: for instance, a strong cattle-export economy. But recent and growing case studies focused on regional productive shape, suggesting that there were also more outstanding differences than mere ecological or political circumstances. Here, we will try to compare the productive profile of each area and investigate the social distribution of the livestock wealth in order to obtain some useful explanations to understand the particular structure of these frontiers.
