This editorial is the prolusion delivered in Padua (Italy) on the occasion of the solemn inauguration of the "Facoltà Teologica del Triveneto" 00 3lst March 2006. Cardinal Kasper reflects on the problem of truth, that is the basis of theology and universities. The dichotomy between faith and science must be overcome, rejecting the theory of dual truth (the truth of philosophy and the truth of faith) and the theory of the two levels (natural level and supernatural level), in order to reach a dialogue between faith and reason, theology and human sciences, church and culture. In the search for truth the present circumstances stimulate theology and in conclusion every university discipline to overcome the challenges of post-modern ideologies and of religious fundamentalisms, not only on the basis of faith, but also using rational arguments
