  • The essay offers a choice of doctrinal positions developed by theologians and canonists of the 1ª half of XVIIth century about the problem of the possibility of papal infallibility in the canonisation of the saints. The work shows how, after the writings of Luca Castellini op. and Gregorio de Valencia s.j., the infalibilistic line becomes more and more spread, although the critical reserves of important authors such as Giovanni of Saint Thomas
