  Lo autores presentan una nueva técnica para la exploración de las vías lagrimales, en anestesia local. Describen el aparato, las sondas y el método utilizado, destacando sus indicaciones y límites. Esta técnica, ideada por el Prof. J.M. Piffaretti (Chaux De Fonds) y modificada por el Dr. C.M. Valazzi (Cattolica), permite la visualización directa de la patología lagrimal y en un elevado porcentaje de casos incluso la resolución mediante cirugía endoscópica de las estenosis y obstrucciones de las vías lagrimales.

  Las ventajas son: las patologías puede ser visualizadas y a menudo resueltas sin utilizar anestesia general y hospitalización; es el único método que nos permite ver directamente la causa de la obstrucción y entender la razón de antecedentes fracasos; absoluto respeto de la anatomía de las vías lagrimales; si no se consigue la recanalización es posible el sucesivo empleo de la cirugía tradicional.

  The authors describe a new technique for the exploration of the lacrimal drainage system under local anesthesia. They describe the device, the probes and the method used, emphasizing its indications and limits. This technique, developed by Prof. J.M. Piffaretti (Chaux de Fonds) and modified by Dr. C.M. Valazzi (Cattolica), allows the direct visualization of the lacrimal pathology and in a high percentage of cases even the resolution of lacrimal drainage system stenosis and obstructions by endoscopic surgery.

  The advantages are: Pathologies can be visualized and often solved without general anesthesia and without hospital admission; it's the only method that allows us to directly see the cause of the obstruction and understand the reason for previous failures; absolute respect of the lacrimal drainage system anatomy; if recanalization is not achieved it is still possible the subsequent use of conventional surgery.
