Este artículo examina los significados políticos atribuidos a la fiesta que conmemoraba la conquista de la ciudad de México-Tenochtitlan, durante la guerra de Independencia. Aquí se plantea que Ias diversas autoridades capitalinas reflejaron a través de sus opiniones sobre la fiesta la posición que cada una asumió ante los grandes temas planteados por la revolución política liberal. También propone que esas diferencias motivaron que la conmemoración anual de la conquista se convirtiera en un escenario más de Ias rivalidades políticas que entonces enfrentaron a los grupos en pugna por el poder en la ciudad de México.
This article examines the political meanings attributed to the holiday that commemorated the conquest of Mexico-Tenochtitlan, during the Independence war. Here it is outlined that the various capital authorities reflected through their opinions on the holiday the position that each one assumed before the great topics outlined by the liberal political revolution. Also, it proposes that those differences motivated that the annual commemoration of the conquest was converted in one more setting of the political rivalries that then put face to face the groups in struggle by the power in Mexico city.
