El órgano de Chievitz constituye una estructura peribucal de oscura naturaleza y significación. Mediante las observaciones realizadas sobre un total de 30 embriones y 10 fetos humanos pertenecientes a los periodos embrionario y fetal temprano, se registra su origen neuroepitelial, las relaciones que establece con el esbozo embrionario parotídeo y resto de estructuras cervicofaciales y el proceso de involución que experimenta hasta su total desaparición.

The organ of Chievitz constitutes a peribucal structure of unknown nature and meaning. All through the approaches made upon 30 embryos and 10 human feta, belonging to the embrionic and early fetal periods, authors determine in neuroepithelial origin, the connections established with the parotid primordium and the rest of cervícofacial structures, and the process of involution which it experiments up to its total disapperance.
