  • Resumen
    • The Cinema Novo appeared when new ideas on the academic praxis of anthropology developed. Many movie directors of the upcoming authors-movie in Europe were influenced by these ideas, even the Brazilian critics and directors referred to them. Therefore, Linduarte de Noronha's movie "Aruanda" from 1960, a documentary on the history and the customs of a settlement in North-eastern Brazil, was cited by some Brazilian directors as the first movie of the Cinema Novo. Considering these observations, the following article discusses the influence of anthropological thinking on the Brazilian movie in the 1950s and 1960s.
