Los nuevos modelos sobre la variación morfológica que en la actualidad ofrece la Biología Evolutiva, aportan una nueva forma de análisis de los datos arqueológicos. Su uso, junto con los conceptos de la Arqueología Cognitiva, constituye una corriente interpretativa más completa y de gran soporte científico. En su utilización, adquiere principal importancia el estudio sobre el origen, transformación y desarrollo de la conducta humana en todos sus aspectos. Como ejemplos de su utilidad se analizan someramente las diferencias cognitivas existentes entre los neandertales y los humanos modernos, así como el origen del Auriñaciense en Europa.

New models about morphologic variation that actually offers Evolutionary Biology, contribute a new way of analysis of archaeological data. Their use, along with the concepts of Cognitive Archaeology, constitute a more complete interpretative current and of great scientific support. Along with its use, it acquires main importance the study about the origin, transformation and development of the human conduct in all their aspects. As examples of their utility we briefly analyze the existing cognitive differences between the Neanderthals and modern humans, as well as the origin of the Auriñaciense in Europe.
