L’article articule la francophonie en Europe de l’Est, plus particulièrement en Bulgarie, en trois dimensions : comment elle est pensée, comment elle est faite, comment elle est utilisée. Elle est observée à l’entrecroisement des images et représentations, des réalités sociales, ainsi que des usages politiques et géopolitiques. Un fil conducteur traverse ce parcours théorique : la rencontre des pays de l’Europe centrale et orientale (PECO) et de la francophonie est libre, elle n’est pas marquée par la violence - ni militaire, ni politique, ni symbolique, elle n’a pas de traumatisme à surmonter. La francophonie des PECO n’est pas liée à la nation, à la construction de l’État souverain - ni par opposition, ni par affirmation, elle fait partie de l’élan vers la démocratie. L’analyse se déploie autour d’un double questionnement : la francophonie contribue-t-elle au « grandissement » démocratique des PECO ; les PECO contribuent-ils à la diversification innovatrice et fructueuse de la francophonie ?

The article articulates the francophony in South Eastern Europe and in Bulgaria in particular in three dimensions : how it is taught, how it is done, how it is used. It is observed in the crossing of images, representations and social realities, as well as of political uses and geopolitics. The meeting of the francophony with Central and Eastern Europe is free, not marked by violence - neither military, no political nor symbolic ; there is no historical trauma to be overcome. The francophony of CEE is not connected to the nation, to the construction of the sovereign state - neither by opposition, nor by affirmation - it is linked with the democratic transition. The analysis is centered on a double questioning : does the francophony contribute to the democratic consolidation of CEE ; does CEE contribute to the innovative and fruitful diversification of francophony.
