Educación superior en Chile: diversidad, diversificación, ¿ahora articulación?

    En la educación superior chilena no está presente aún la necesaria trilogía ¿diversidaddiversificación- articulación¿. Existió antes de los 80 la ¿diversidad¿ y desde entonces se desarrolla con gran dinamismo la ¿diversificación¿; sin embargo, aún es escasa la presencia de la ¿articulación¿. Se contrasta esta trilogía con otra, la de ¿función-estructura-forma¿ y, en el contexto de la actual situación y de su entendimiento como auténtico bien público, esto es, integración de esfuerzos estatales y privados, se impone la necesidad de desarrollar la ¿articulación¿ como componente de libre coordinación del trabajo que se realiza en torno al saber (función), de las instituciones y del financiamiento que le cabe al Estado otorgar (estructura) y de los elementos reguladores (forma) que consideren, en su diseño e implementación, la libertad académica y la autonomía propias de las instituciones de educación superior.

    The necessary trilogy ¿diversity-diversification-articulation¿ is not yet present in Chilean higher education. ¿Diversity¿ existed prior to the 1980s, and since then, ¿diversification¿ has been developing vigorously. Nevertheless, ¿articulation¿ is only barely present. The paper makes a contrast between this trilogy and another, namely, ¿function-structure-form¿. In the context of the current situation of higher education and its status as a genuine public good, i.e., the integration of private and public efforts, the need to develop ¿articulation¿ is imminent. It must be developed as a component of the free coordination of work performed in the field of knowledge (function), of institutions and the funding that should be provided by the state (structure) and the regulatory elements (form) that include in its design and implementation the academic freedom and autonomy inherent to higher education centers.
