    Whether in the 19th century, at the time of Frédéric Mistral, or later in the service of other causes, politics is not foreign to Occitan poetry in southwestern France. The years right after May 1968 were a high time in the politics of the region’s language, langue d’Oc. For several years, a poetry developed there in the form of protest songs that could move a much larger public than the one devoted to Occitan literature. The forms and themes of this political poetry, which oscillates between revolutionary fervor and nationalistic aspirations, are analyzed.

    Que ce soit au xixe siècle, du temps de Mistral, ou par la suite au service d’autres causes, le politique n’est pas étranger à la poésie occitane. Les années qui suivent immédiatement Mai 68 constituent un temps particulièrement fort dans cette production politique en langue d’oc. Pendant quelques années s’y développe une poésie contestataire, qui peut prendre la forme d’une chanson de combat, capable de toucher un public qui dépasse largement celui de la littérature d’oc. Sont ici analysées les modalités et les thématiques de cette poésie politique qui oscille entre ferveur révolutionnaire et aspirations nationalistes.
