Resumen de El folclore invade en imaginario de la ciudad: determinaciones regionales en el cine mexicano de los treinta

Marina Díaz López

  • During the 1930s in Mexico, a new film subgenre started which was based on the various national folk cultures. The roots of this type of film can be traced to the foundations of national culture in the nineteenth century. The important role of music in modern mass culture made it a perfect match for sound cinema. The result provided a series of films which was able to combine traditional ideology, well-established iconography, and musical narration, all of which went into creating a coherent image of the new society.
