Resumen de Báilame de nuevo esa rumba, Ninón

Reynaldo González

  • There is a period in Cuban cinema which has been scorned by Cuban theorists. It was in the 1950s and 60s when Cuba collaborated with Mexico to create a series of melodramas using popular music and excellent “rumberas”, perhaps the most outstanding of which was Ninón Sevilla. The author takes a close, yet critical, look at this neglected film genre that provides an extraordinary archive of popular Caribean and Cuban music.
