Los estudios sobre la historia del sistema bancario de las Islas son escasos.
Esta investigación aporta alguna luz sobre la cuestión, con la finalidad de facilitar un mejor conocimiento de la evolución y los rasgos que definen la actividad financiera en Canarias. Asimismo, permite dar a conocer a uno de los agentes económicos más importantes de las Islas, Juan Rodríguez González, cuya herencia se prolongó hasta el tercer cuarto del siglo XX

The resources on the history of the banking system at the Canary Islands are very scarce. This paper contributes with some light on this issue, aiming to offer a better knowledge of the evolution and of the features that define the financial activity at the Islands. It will also introduce one of the most important economic agents of the Islands, Juan Rodríguez González, whose influences was especially relevant until the third quarter of century XX.
