Resumen de ¿Resignación o rebeldía? Reflexiones sobre Las raíces de Emilia Pardo Bazán

El teatro de Emilia Pardo Bazán ha despertado escaso interés, en general, entre la crítica.
Este artículo estudia una de sus piezas, Las raíces, y afronta cuestiones diversas como planteamientos temáticos, fuentes del texto y rasgos de los personajes. Nuestro estudio plantea posibles paralelismos con autores y obras de su época; destacamos, de esta forma, el influjo de Ibsen y su Casa de muñecas. Identificamos así héroes problemáticos, en conflicto con su entorno, incapaces de adaptarse y por tanto proclives al autosacrificio. El ejemplo paradigmático es Lucía. Del significado de los personajes pasamos a desglosar las características de determinados elementos textuales y paratextuales. En suma, destacamos la importancia que posee la dimensión espectacular de toda obra de teatro.

«Acceptance or rebelliousness? Reflections on Emilia Pardo Bazán’s Las raíces». Generally speaking, Emilia Pardo Bazán’s drama has found little interest among critics. This article focuses on one of her pieces, Las raíces, and deals with diverse topics like themes, sources of the text and main features of the characters. Our study approaches to possible parallelisms with other authors and plays of her time. In relation to this aspect, Ibsen’s influence and his A Doll´s house should be highlighted. In this sense we can identify troublesome heroes, always in conflict with their social environment, unable to get adapted and so inclined to the selftorment. The best example of this is Lucía. We will move from the meaning of the characters to the study of the main features of specific textual and paratextual elements.
