  • Resumen
    • With recent developments in globalization there is a need to further understanding of the processes and consequences of internationalization and its implications for tourism education (Ottewill, Riddy, Fill, 2005; Sharma Ft Roy, 1996). Internationalization is not a new phenomenon as people have interacted with other nations and cultures for centuries but while there appears to be a consensus to pursue internationalization in education, there are differences in depth, scope and modes. (Sharma Et Roy, 1996; Beamish 8t Calof, 1989). The rapidly changing environment presents curricular challenges to institutions providing tourism education and internationalization requires a new mindset that inherits both commitment and a reasonable level of competence. Institutions may meet this requirement in different ways. This paper presents the philosophy of internationalization at Management Center Innsbruck (MCI), Austria, as well as its internationalization strategy and implementation of internationalization in the tourism program. The paper will contribute to existing approaches towards internationalization in higher education and examine the implications for other educational institutions.
