Resumen de Jerarquía y redes sociales en la Castilla medieval: la provisión de beneficios eclesiásticos en el cabildo de la catedral de Burgos (1390-1440)

El presente artículo estudia el papel jugado por el cabildo de la Catedral de Burgos en la configuración de la jerarquía eclesiástica castellana a comienzos del siglo XV. A través del análisis de las provisiones de beneficios y cargos eclesiásticos es posible desentrañar las redes sociales y clientelares tejidas por algunos de sus miembros. Estas redes facilitaron la proyección diocesana y exterior de los capitulares burgaleses en la esfera de la monarquía castellana y el Pontificado romano. Al mismo tiempo, contribuyeron a hacer del cabildo burgalés un importante eslabón en la cadena del cursus honorum de los eclesiásticos castellanos.

This article is intended to study the role played by the Cathedral chapter of Burgos in the shaping of the Castilian ecclesiastical hierarchy at the beginning of the fifteenth century. By analysing the provision of ecclesiastical offices and benefices is possible to clarify the social networks which were made by some of the cathedral members. These social networks facilitated the diocesan and foreign influence of the Burgos cathedral members over the spheres of Castilian monarchy and the Roman Papacy. At the same time, they contributed to make of the Burgos Cathedral chapter an important link in the chain of cursus honorum of the Castilian ecclesiastical men.
