Resumen de Le paysage français de la recherche sur la dégradation et la conservation de la pierre monumentale

This paper is an overall assessment of French research on weathering and conservation of monumental stone. The paucity of the French geography on this matter is emphasized, making a strong distinction with foreign geographies, especially from English-speaking ones. Nevertheless, the activity of non-geographic research in France is at a high level. Finally we underline the strong potential of the metropolitan territory for supporting a French building stone geography.

Cette note dresse un bilan de la recherche française sur la dégradation et la conservation de la pierre monumentale. La faible contribution de la géographie nationale est mise en avant, tranchant avec l'importance de ce champ de recherche dans les géographies étrangères, notamment anglo-saxonnes. La vivacité de la recherche non-géographique sur le territoire métropolitain est abordée. Enfin, le potentiel offert par le territoire métropolitain pour une géographie monumentale française est souligné.
