The Cuban Revolution of 1959 brought with it radical shifts in social and cultural spheres. So too, the creation of the ICAIC in March of that same year brought with it an entirely new way of looking at the film industry. Filmmakers and film critics of the ICAIC considered themselves as starting anew from “point zero”. Based on this questionable notion, the journal Cine Cubano would elaborate a new history of Cuban film and ultimately consolidate the myth of how Cuban film originated with the Revolution.
