    Jorge Gurría Lacroix analiza el sitio de Cuautla; señala que la anécdota del niño artillero es la más famosa de dicho acontecimiento, pero subraya que la historiografía de su época registra el suceso en escasas ocasiones. Por ello, analiza las pocas fuentes donde sí es relatada y concluye que éstas no son confiables. Sin embargo, presenta la versión facsimilar de una carta firmada por Narciso Mendoza, dirigida a Juan N. Almonte, que confirma la veracidad de la existencia del niño artillero y aclara la participación de Almonte en el sitio de Cuautla como capitán de una compañía de niños. Anexa bibliografía.

    Jorge Gurría Lacroix analyzes the siege of Cuautla, pointing out that the anecdote of the artillery boy is the most popular of this event, but also mentions that the historiography of the epoch mentions this event only a few times. This is the reason why he studies the documents where this story is related and concludes these sources are not reliable, but presents the letter signed by Narciso Mendoza addressed to Juan N. Almonte, confirming the existence of the artillery boy and explains the participation of Almonte in the siege of Cuautla as a captain of a children's company. He attaches bibliography.
