En este trabajo se repasa la literatura reciente sobre desarrollo financiero, y en particular la estructura de los sistemas financieros. Se describen las grandes tendencias de las últimas décadas en cuanto a profundización financiera en general, y en particular en lorelativo al desarrollo de los mercados financieros y a su internacionalización, y se discuten algunas implicaciones de ésta última.

In this article we review the recent literature on financial development and, inparticular, on the structure of the financial systems. We describe the main trends over the last few decades in in-depth financial analysis and, above all, with regard to the development of the financial markets andtheir internationalisation, and we discuss some implications of the latter aspect.
