  • Resumen
    • lt has been known since the time of Poincaré (1854-1912) that simple detenninistic systems can display wtpredictably random behaviour. In this paper it is introduced a brief historical background to nonlinear systems and the evolution of ideas leading to an understanding of chaotic behaviour. An overview on the route to chaos through the period doubling cascade (Feigenbamn phenomenon) starting from the non-linear logistic equation first used to model population growth by R. May, is specially outlined. Feigenbamn showed the existence in that route of a wtiversal nmnber E> , appearing in different non linear dynamical equations.
