A partir de una reseña crítica de las principales corrientes teóricas contemporáneas sobre la nación y los nacionalismos, este artículo busca aproximarse a la naturaleza y fundamento del fenómeno nacional, desentrañar sus interrelaciones con la etnicidad y la religión y desvelar sus componentes constitutivos para revisar a partir de ellos los argumentos de quienes proclaman el inminente fin de las identidades nacionales, del estado-nación y del orden mundial que se configuró a partir de él

Following a critical review of the main contemporary currents regarding nation and nationality, this article aims to reconsider the arguments of those who state that national identities are disappearing under the impulse of globalization, along with nations and of the world order structured around them. It furthermore attempts to approach the nature of the phenomenon and to consider its relations to ethnicity and religion
