The status of philosophers and philosophy in Michaux' s early work explains the way he gave it up without giving up on it: it is intimately linked with figures of physiological degradation, and in particular hairlessness. The ambivalence of Michaux' s relinquishing philosophy is nevertheless behind his status in the work of certain philosophers, for example, Deleuze.
