Martel' s language, which he baptised "paralloïdre" to honour its parallelism to and distortion of French, is, in this study of his translation, "Le Moscacoche", of La Fontaine's "Le Coche et la Mouche", intelligible, pleasurable, and unpredictable — a challenge only a non-normative textual linguistics can take up.
