El teatro como espacio de resistencia en la Argentina de la postdictadura

    Este artículo pretende analizar las expresiones del teatro en tanto espacio de resistencia en Argentina, buscando explicar cómo el teatro puede representar una herramienta políticamente contestataria. El período abordado es el que se abre con el inicio del proceso de restauración de la democracia en dicho país, de 1983 a 2006. Para analizar este fenómeno, estudiamos las características que conciernen la evolución del teatro político en Argentina durante las últimas décadas (caracterizadas por la introducción de una política económica neoliberal bajo el gobierno de Menem, entre 1989-1999), a la luz del potencial político del teatro en el actual contexto socio-político internacional. Con dicho objetivo, el presente artículo dará cuenta de las dos formas más representativas de resistencia teatral observadas durante la investigación realizada en Buenos Aires en 2006: la organización material de las compañías teatrales y la búsqueda de un nuevo lenguaje artístico en las obras teatrales propuestas. Ambas son expresiones de contra-poder en relación al orden del sistema mundial.

    This article studies the theatric expressions as a mean of resistance in Argentina, aiming to explain how it became a tool of political struggle. The period studied begins with the process of restoration of democracy, from 1983 to 2006. In order to analyze this phenomenon, we have studied the particularities of the evolution of the political theater in Argentina during the last decade (a period characterized by the introduction of neoliberal economic policies under the government of Menem, 1989-1999), also considering the political potentials of the theater in the current international socio-political context. This was undertaken through the study of two of the main representative tendencies of theater resistance recognized during the research conducted in Buenos Aires in 2006: the first, regarding the organization behind the support of materials for theater companies, and, the second, concerning the search of a new artistic language in the proposed plays; both identified as counter-power expressions from a globalized perspective.
