Resumen de Patrimonio geológico en España: unas reflexiones desde la experiencia de los últimos 25 años

Durante los últimos 25 años, en España se han producido notables avances en relación con la geoconservación y el patrimonio geológico. Diversas instituciones (IGME, autonomías, entidades locales), sociedades científicas y centros de investigación han venido desarrollando iniciativas de inventario de puntos de interés geológico y su incorporación a las redes de espacios naturales protegidos, sobre todo a través de la figura de monumento natural. En el ámbito de la puesta en valor del patrimonio geológico existen ejemplos de gran interés, como la creación de parques geológicos locales, la habilitación de rutas de contenido geológico, la propuesta de conjuntos geológicos para su declaración como Patrimonio de la Humanidad, la recuperación de espacios mineros para el turismo, y la creación de geomuseos temáticos.

During the last 25 years, in Spain notables advances have taken place in connection with the geoconservation and the geological heritage. Diverse institutions (IGME, Autonomous Comunities, local entities), scientific societies and research centers have come developing initiatives of inventory of geosites and their incorporation to the networks of protected natural spaces, mainly through the figure of natural monument. Related with the setting in value of the geological heritage, examples of great interest exist, as the creation of local geologic parks, the qualification of routes of geological content, the proposal of geosites for their declaration like World Heritage, the recovery of mining spaces for the tourism, and the creation of thematic geomuseums.
