Resumen de Antropología y ciudad: hacia un análisis crítico e histórico

  Partiendo de una discusión teórica sobre la relación entre antropología y ciudad proponemos problematizar los fundamentos tanto de los estudios urbanos como los estudios antropológicos. En lugar de ver a la ciudad como una categoría universal y fija resaltamos las posibilidades que tiene la antropología para abordar las ciudades como productos de prácticas sociales históricamente situadas. Ilustramos esta propuesta deteniéndonos en los proyectos urbanísticos de Bogotá en tres momentos históricos y en las imaginaciones contemporáneas de las ciudades del futuro.

  Departing from a theoretical discussion of the relationship between anthropology and the city, we problematize the foundations of both urban and anthropological studies. Rather than viewing the city as a stable and universal category, we emphasize the possibilities anthropology has to approach cities as products of historically-situated social practices. We illustrate this proposal by focusing on urbanistic projects in the city of Bogotá during three historical moments and by analyzing contemporary imaginations of the cities of the future.
