• In this paper We study the stability of harmonic maps on Finsler manifolds by an extrinsic average variational method in the calculus of variations. Some nonexistence results of nonconstant stable harmonic maps on compact Finsler manifolds are obtained, and the homotopy classes of maps on Finsler manifolds are discussed
