    La lengua azul está causada por un virus ARN bicatenario del género Orbivirus. Afecta a óvidos, bóvidos y otros rumiantes y está transmitida por mosquitos del género Culicoides. Da lugar a grandes pérdidas económicas. Existe una notable diferencia entre los 24 serotipos distintos existentes del virus. El objetivo de este trabajo ha sido estudiar la distribución del serotipo 1 del virus de la lengua azul mediante la reacción en cadena de la polimerasa con retrotranscriptasa (RT-PCR) en distintos tejidos de ovejas infectadas de manera natural en Andalucía, donde circulan los serotipos 1 y 4.     Bluetongue is caused by an RNA-virus belonging to the Orbivirus genus. It affects sheep, cattle and other ruminants and is transmitted by midges from the Culicoides genus. It causes important economical losses. There is a notorious difference between the 24 different BTV serotypes.
